Technology will make it possible for two queens of Latin music, the deceased Cuban salsa singer Celia Cruz and the Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Ivy Queen, to unite their voices in a virtual duet that will be the centerpiece of the interactive festival Calle Ocho Live.
"It is an honor for me to sing one of her songs with Celia because she captivated me from the moment I first heard her incredible voice and also because she is synonymous with the highest values, sacrifices, and the empowerment that music gives all of us. Long live Celia Cruz, the Queen!", Ivy Queen stated in the press release announcing the duet.
The Celia Cruz and Ivy Queen song will be unveiled on October 4th during the event that replaces the 'Calle Ocho Music Festival', which is celebrated in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami and had to be canceled this year due to Covid-19.
In its place, Calle Ocho Live will be held, a television show that can be viewed on digital platforms associated with YouTube, Twitter, Periscope, TikTok and Twitch, among others.
The song that Ivy Queen is recording will remain a secret until the day of the event.
