The mountaineer Yandy Núñez arrived this week at the base camp of Mount Everest, to fulfill his promise of climbing to the highest elevation on the planet and placing the flag of all Cubans there.

From the base camp, the Cuban was able to appreciate the imposing beauty of the elevation.

"The Everest Base Camp is impressive in every way. The Khumbu waterfall, the seracs that you see in every movement of your gaze, and its wonderful mountains," he wrote on his Facebook profile.

Yandy Núñez is getting closer and closer to conquering Mount Everest and placing the Cuban flag at the highest summit in the world.

And it is that Núñez has shared on his social networks that yesterday Tuesday he reached the summit of Lobuche Peak, less than 3000 meters away from achieving his goal.

"First Cuban at the summit of Lobuche Peak 6119m. Part of my acclimatization for Everest 8848m," said the Cuban. "I reached the summit at 8:40 in the morning. Although it was only 2 hours and 40 minutes from Camp 1 at 5600 meters, the climb was on a total slope of pure ice, very technical and dangerous at the same time," he added.

Tomorrow Yandy has the Puja, which is a ceremony to ask permission from the mountain and for it to allow him to reach the summit of the world.
