In a brief conversation with Prensa Latina while walking yesterday from the hotel to the theater, as evening fell before the general rehearsal, Viengsay noted that she will perform a pas de deux from the choreographic work "Carmen", by Roland Petipa, and will have as her partner the Argentine Emmanuel Vázquez, who is Principal Dancer of the Ballet of Santiago de Chile.

She was invited by the renowned Argentine dancer, choreographer and dance teacher Julio Bocca, current director of the Ballet Estable, along with 15 other prestigious figures in this artistic genre, she added.

This is the fourth occasion in which the Prima Ballerina (since 2013) has performed in Argentina, as she did for the first time in 1998 at the Teatro Colón, and subsequently returned in 2008 when she graced the International Gala Stars of Dance, which took place in the cities of Rosario, province of Santa Fe, and Santiago del Estero, Tucumán, she recalled.

Regarding that 1998 performance, dance critic Silvia Gsell wrote for the newspaper La Nación: "Viengsay Valdés brought light to her interpretation (pas de deux from Sylvia), with that quality inherent to this Company (the BNC) of showing no effort or theatricality. Her arabesques, her delicate port de bras and the security of her technique were dazzling".

In Rosario and Santiago del Estero she performed alongside Romel Frómeta the choreography "Dolls", by Alberto Méndez, and a pas de deux from "Don Quixote".

For the third time she traveled to this land in 2013 to perform in the International Gala of Stars hosted by the Coliseo Theater of Buenos Aires, where she shone in two pas de deux from "Don Quixote" and "The Talisman", accompanied by the stellar partner Víctor Estérez, then a prominent figure of the BNC.

Twelve years later she returns to Buenos Aires, now as director of the prestigious Cuban company and with the enthusiasm with which she did so on previous occasions. "I feel happy and honored that Julio Bocca thought of me for this special occasion", to celebrate the Centenary of the Ballet Estable, she said.

According to the program that Prensa Latina had access to, the Gala includes 17 choreographies from the works «Paquita», «Gopak», «La Sylphide», «Swan Lake», «Chaikovsky pas de deux», «Carmen», «Jewels:Diamonds», «Sleeping Beauty», «Carmina Burana», «Romance of the Devil» and «Chacona», among others, closing with fragments of «Don Quixote».

There will be live music provided by the Estable Orchestra, in addition to recorded music according to the choreography, and the Estable Chorus with its hundred singers will also take to the stage.

Since its founding in 1908, the new Teatro Colón building functioned only as a venue that welcomed the most prestigious international companies, until in 1925 the debut of its Ballet Estable took place, together with the Chorus and the Orchestra.
