The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, made his debut this Wednesday as a Twitter user, becoming the first leader of the Island with a real presence on this popular platform.
The idea that, for the first time in history, Cubans can communicate directly with their president is something totally new.
The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel, on October 10th sent his first tweet from his official account @DiazCanelB.
In his first message, Díaz-Canel said: "We are at La Demajagua, the place where with the greatest sum of patriotic feelings #WeAreCuba and #WeAreContinuity".
Fourteen minutes after launching his first tweet, Díaz-Canel had reached 378 followers and 72 retweets, plus 83 likes and 15 comments.
