Initiator of online concerts in Cuba, singer-songwriter David Blanco continues to navigate the obstacles imposed by Covid-19 and reinvents his musical proposal from virtual platforms.
Together with his group, the musician proposes the reality show #backstage, which offers an approach to the experiences in tours and galas of the rock band he directs.
To do this, they will rely on images from presentations, tours, record recordings, while taking advantage of the space to launch their new compositions and share their most acclaimed hits.
The program also includes interviews with prominent Cuban musicians as guests, in an effort to bring the audience news, curious facts and history of the sounds and their main exponents in Cuba.
The initiative, which aims to show the state of the sound industry in the Caribbean nation, joins projects promoted by cultural institutions such as online concerts —initiated on March 24— and new album presentations organized by the Recording and Musical Publishing Company (Egrem).
Blanco, one of the most talented young Cuban musicians in the pop-rock category, deserved the Cubadisco award on two occasions and has performed on stages in Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina and Spain.
After the first broadcast with sonero Adalberto Álvarez, the singer expressed, on his Facebook profile, his joy at the result and thanked his followers for the impact, while announcing that on October 17 the guest would be Pedrito Calvo.
Scheduled for the first and third Saturdays of each month, the 30-minute space will be broadcast on the band's YouTube channel, as well as various linked social media pages.
This is not the only initiative of this kind that has emerged recently, as with the objective of navigating the obstacles imposed by Covid-19, Cuba's musicians are gifting new ways each day to transmit their work from social networks, as clear proof of their talent and capacity to reinvent themselves.
In that regard, the virtual show stands out, Un ratico con Jorgito, hosted by singer-songwriter Jorge Luis Robaina, which offers —in half an hour— an approach to the life of performers from the island with recognized national and international trajectory, such as Waldo Mendoza (first guest) and Will Campa.
