American press media, grouped under National Public Radio (NPR), selected the album Inside, by X Alfonso, among the fifty best albums of 2020, which was classified by critic Félix Contreras as a flawless example of contemporary music from Cuba.
X Alfonso said he felt very happy with the recognition of his album, the first one he produces under the FAC (Fábrica de Arte Cubano) label and which is composed of nine songs, created from September 2019 to the present.
Contreras highlighted the electronic and Afro-Cuban influences that drip with sonic delight, and should be absorbed, in their entirety, to appreciate the creative force of X Alfonso.
"Cambio", "Reflexión", "Dime qué hay que hacer", "Siento que", "No se puede pensar como un prisionero", "Siempre hay solución", "No hay azul sin ti", "No son palabras son mis huellas" and "Solo es tiempo de dar amor"; are the songs that make up the first volume of the Cuban singer's project.
In September 2019, we began the Inside adventure, launching a song monthly, an experience focused on the representation of a butterfly, a symbol of the need for change, transformation and metamorphosis, using its concept linked to the emergence of chaos theory as a possibility of a small event that could produce a sequence of these over the long term, X Alfonso declared to VISTASTAR, on the occasion of the album's launch on digital platforms.
In September 2019, the renowned Cuban musician surprised his fans with the launch of Inside, after eight years without releasing any album.
On February 14, X Alfonso premiered the music video Cambio, directed by Raúl Valdés and Nelson Ponce, based on a drawing by José Bedia.
The creator sent a kiss and enormous gratitude to all the people who dedicated their time and art to contribute to the creation of the Inside audiovisuals that is nominated in thirteen categories for the Lucas Awards, the artist reported on his Facebook account.
The Cuban producer and arranger emphasized that he does not sell his music in Cuba, but it can be downloaded for free on the page xalfonso.com, where surprises can be found, he announced.
National Public Radio (NPR) is a non-profit American media communications organization that produces programming for a national network of more than one thousand public radio stations in the United States.
In the 2020 selection, in addition to X Alfonso's album, Untitled, by the group Sault, Fetch the Bolt Cutters, by Fiona Apple, and Lido Pimienta, by Señorita Colombia, were included, among others.
