«I have remembered my beginnings... my vocation, the course... Really, I have worked very hard. My dad always told me that this was very serious, that you had to be very good, and study a lot. My teachers, the television viewers, the listeners have come to my memory...

«I have greatly enjoyed the affection of the public, for many years now, since 69... My goal now is to honor this recognition, and my commitment will always be with the people... I am very happy».

With these words, the distinguished broadcaster Argelia Pera Trapero commented to Granma her impressions upon receiving the news, this afternoon, of having deserved the National Radio Award 2025, which is granted by the Institute of Information and Social Communication.

More than 50 years of experience in radio and television make up the professional's history, according to the note that supports the selection.

The text summarizes the life and work of the honoree, born in Santiago de Cuba:

«At barely two years old, her family moved to Havana due to her father's work demands: the unforgettable broadcaster Antonio Pera, and here she graduated from a training course at the then Cuban Institute of Broadcasting.

«With excellence in good speaking, she took her first steps in television, where for many years she left her mark on the memorable Morning Magazine, but it was from the Radio Reloj booth where Argelia Pera consolidated her value in the world of broadcasting, to become one of the distinctive voices of her stellar program The Morning.
