On November 27th, at the Cuban Institute of Music, in the presence of its president, Indira Fajardo, the 2024 National Music Prize was announced.
This year recognized the work and legacy of singer, composer, guitarist, actress and host of radio and television programs, Miriam Ramos Heres.
The jury was presided over by Pancho Amat and comprised, in addition, by musicians Niurka González, Orlando Valle (Maracas), José Manuel García and Augusto Blanca, all great connoisseurs of Cuban music.
Miriam Ramos Heres hosted programs on national radio: No hacen falta alas (dedicated to universal music and literature) and La Esquina del Jazz. She won the Caracol Prize (1999) awarded by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) with the program Pensamiento.
Among her recognitions are: Medal of Distinction for National Culture, Raúl Gómez García Medal, Commemorative Medal for the Tenth Anniversary of the Nueva Trova Movement, the Grand Cubadisco Prize 1999, Prize in the Song Category of this same competition in the years 1999 and 2000. Special Mention in the CARACOL 99 Prize for her concert Estás conmigo at the National Theater of Cuba. Performance Prize from the Adolfo Guzmán Cuban Song Competition in the years 1983 and 1984. Recognition Diploma for her uninterrupted participation in all editions of the Adolfo Guzmán Cuban Song Competition. Various Prizes at the National Festivals of the Musical Creator. Various Prizes at the National Radio Festival for the production team that participates in the No hacen falta alas program on Radio Progreso. Various Recognitions for the production team that participates in La esquina del Jazz, on CMBF.
