The Cuban pianist Frank Fernández will offer a special concert in this capital, in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the reopening of the Teatro Martí and its 75 years of existence, the musician announced today.
Considered by specialized critics as a leading figure of piano performance on the island, Fernández will offer a retrospective of his six decades of artistic career as a performer, composer, orchestrator, producer, cultural promoter, researcher, and pedagogue.
The presentation, scheduled for September 28, will feature the presence of the Orquesta Ensemble Solistas de La Habana, under the direction of Maestro Iván Valiente.
In the year celebrating his 60 years of artistic life, Fernández offered the concert Todo Frank, which featured baritone Ulises Aquino, tenor Yuri Hernández, popular music singer Laritza Bacallao, and principal dancers of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba.
On that occasion, artist and writer Jesús Lara Sotelo also dedicated his personal exhibition Espacio vital to the pianist, which constituted a reflection of the diversity of both creations (music and visual arts).
As one of the most notable and beloved musicians in Cuba, his career at the piano is recognized by critics and audiences throughout the world, in addition to playing a leading role in the development of the school of the instrument in the Caribbean island.
