The pianist Alejandro Falcón, one of the prominent figures of the new generations of Cuban jazz musicians, will participate in the Barrière Enghien Jazz Festival to be held from July 3-7 in France.
The Cuban instrumentalist, winner of the Cubadisco award in 2010 for his debut album Claroscuro, will share the bill with outstanding names in international music such as Chick Corea, Maceo Parker, Kool&The Gang, Rickie Lee Jones, Charlie Winston, among others.
On an annual basis, the Barrière Enghien Jazz Festival will reach its 20th edition this year, becoming one of the most prominent jazz events in the festival circuit in France.
Falcón will perform at the festival songs from his three record productions, among which stands out Mi monte espiritual, an excellently crafted album with which he establishes an original interaction between the symphonic universe and Afro-Cuban music.
The album, the product of a deep investigation into the roots of traditional Cuban music, is one of the most interesting proposals in the Cuban jazz scene in recent years and has established him as an instrumentalist of notable prominence in the island's landscape.
The pianist, who was part of the Paulo FG orchestra, has collaborated with important names in Cuban and international music such as Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Gal Costa, Marcus Miller, Ernán López-Nussa and Pablo Milanés, and has performed at recognized international festivals.
He currently directs his group Cubadentro with which he defends his work and especially the songs from Mi monte espiritual, which features songs such as "La dueña del mundo," "Obbá Meyi," and "El pez encantado."
