Journalist Roxana Romero Donates Part of Her Liver to Three-Year-Old Girl

Cuban journalist Roxana Romero Rodríguez donated part of her liver to a three-year-old girl to perform a liver transplant that could save the child's life.

"She performed an altruistic act, very human and full of love, by becoming a donor of part of her liver, to save the life of a three-year-old girl who suffered from a liver condition that endangered her life," said Cuban Luis Alberto Romero, the journalist's father, on Facebook.

The organ transplant was performed at the William Soler Pediatric Hospital in the capital on September 8.

"In the early morning hours, a living donor liver transplant is performed at the Hospital-William Soler Ledea. It is undoubtedly a celebration of life. Congratulations and thanks to my friends and brothers for such dedication," stated on the Facebook profile Pediátrico Hws.

The information did not provide details about the girl, but Romero assures that the medical team was successful in the operation and that both patients, the donor and the child, are evolving favorably.

On her Facebook profile, Roxana Romero indicates that she is from Guantánamo, lives in Havana, and is a journalist for Canal Caribe.
