This weekend began at the Teatro Auditorio de Sant Cugat, in Barcelona, the tour across Spain of the Centenario de Alicia Alonso gala, with which outstanding dancers from America and Europe pay tribute to the supreme figure of Hispanic-American dance.
Until June 6th the tour will extend, which includes presentations in Madrid, Alicante, Zaragoza, Valladolid, Cádiz, Córdoba and Málaga.
The tour was supposed to take place in 2020, just when the centennial of Alicia's birth was being commemorated, but due to the pandemic it was necessary to postpone it.
Now, thanks to the efforts of theaters, organizers and artists, it has been possible to reschedule it.
An international cast performs selections from several emblematic works in Alicia Alonso's career: Giselle, Carmen, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Coppélia, Spartacus and La Diva.
Anette Delgado and Dani Hernández, lead dancers of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, together with leading figures from various European and Latin American companies, pay homage to the most universal of Hispanic-American dancers, in a country to which she was very closely linked artistically and personally.
