Cuban singer-songwriter Francisco "Pancho" Céspedes will receive the Latin Recording Academy's 2026 Musical Excellence Award, the organization announced on June 30. The honor will be presented November 9, 2026, in Las Vegas, as part of the events leading up to the Latin Grammy Awards ceremony.

Céspedes will share the award with fellow veteran artists Lila Downs, Alaska, Daniela Mercury and Chichí Peralta. The Academy described the award as recognition for performers' artistic contributions to Latin music over the course of their careers.

Born in Cuba and based in Mexico since 1992, Céspedes left behind his medical training to pursue music full time and became one of the defining voices of contemporary romantic song and bolero following his 1997 debut album, Vida loca. Over the course of his career he has written for and performed with artists including Luis Miguel, Alejandro Sanz, Plácido Domingo and Armando Manzanero, and in recent years collaborated with fellow Cuban troubadour Pablo Milanés.
