With more than fifty years of career on stage, Pablo Milanés has become one of the most important musicians in the entire Latin music scene. The Cuban artist performed this Friday at 'Bahía en Vivo' in San Fernando and has won over the island audience with an intimate and deeply moving performance.
This concert is part of the 'Esencia' Tour, which Milanés has been presenting in Europe and America for just over a year. The artist was accompanied by a pianist and a cellist. The musician performed some of his most recognized songs during last night's concert on The Island, songs that for many are practically the anthem of an entire generation.
The Cuban artist was, in his day, along with Silvio Rodríguez and Noel Nicola, the founder of the Nueva Trova Cubana. More than 40 solo studio albums are the best proof of a self-made composer, singer and guitarist. A benchmark of an entire musical genre.
The legendary troubadour overcame the cold and wind that threatened him and his musicians to deliver a presentation in which he once again demonstrated the fullness of his interpretive qualities, his ability to awaken emotions in the audience and the perfect communion he achieves with his musicians and followers.
In the concert he performed 18 songs including classics such as "El breve espacio en que no estás", "La soledad", "Para vivir", "Yolanda", "Días de gloria", "Si ella me faltara alguna vez", and "Ámame como soy".
The return of the beloved troubadour to the stage received a host of praise from the Cádiz press in Andalusia, which described the show as an event that will remain in "the memory of all attendees".
The Cádiz newspaper said that "Pablo Milanés' voice is hypnotic" and highlighted the interpretive skill of musicians in his band such as pianist Ivonne Reyes and cellist Caridad Varona".
"The attendees applaud, let out the occasional 'bravo!', whistle with enthusiasm and stand up to give a standing ovation to the veteran musician. Para vivir has sounded. He has sung Yolanda. He has sung El breve espacio en que no estás. The concert ends and he does so with songs that the audience also sings in a sublime communion", the newspaper added.
