The world's musical community pays tribute to the excellence and trajectory of its members with the Batuta Award, a distinction that will be presented to Cuban composer Leo Brouwer, reported today by the Latin Institute of Music (ILM)
The guitar genius stands out among the ten awardees of the first edition of this recognition, which also includes British composer Michael Nyman and Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo.
The Cuban instrumentalist holds the title of Cultural Ambassador of the ILM, for his essential contribution to the universal history of the guitar, as a performer and composer, as well as his work as an orchestra director and author of scores for various formats.
Brouwer stands out as one of the most prominent and influential musicians of the 20th century and one of the most prolific composers in the field of international academic music.
According to the global president of the Institute, Daniel Martin Subiaut, the Batuta Awards and that institution, founded in 1921, recently signed an alliance, which will relaunch this platform to five continents and strengthen relations with other entities in the entertainment industry.
The awards ceremony will take place on October 5 at the Roberto Cantoral Cultural Center, in Mexico City.
