Hilda Saladrigas Medina is awarded, in its first call —following the creation of the Institute of Information and Social Communication—, the National Prize for Social Communication.
The decision, by the Board of Directors of said Institute, at the proposal of the National Evaluation Commission, honors this prize by revering this Cuban woman who, graduated from the University of Oriente, has accumulated an extraordinary body of work in this field. A theoretical and practical body of work, a controversial and contributive one in such a defining field, as well as much discussed in recent years in the country, especially during the debate and approval process of the law that regulates it after the new constitution. This scholar, Doctor in Communication Sciences, made significant contributions to the drafting and definition of the latter.
She will still need to contribute much, with the weight of her professional authority, to its most adequate and urgent implementation.
To her academic merits she adds precious human gifts.
