The National Television Prize constitutes the recognition granted by Cuban Television for a lifetime of work to creators with an extensive career, as well as for their significant contribution to this medium. Consequently, after various working sessions, the jury, evaluating the trajectory, comprehensiveness of the work and public impact, made the proposal, approved by the Board of Directors of the Institute of Information and Social Communication, to Natividad Díaz Chirino, Natacha Díaz.
Distinguished Cuban radio and television actress, reciter, and host, she has played major roles both dramatic and humorous.
Graduate of the School of Actor Training of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT), she began her professional artistic career in 1969, in the TACYA Theater group, where she performed in works such as Las Pericas, La casa de Bernarda Alba and Macbeth. During this period, her work in the monologue La santera also stands out.
In radio she has performed in spaces such as Grandes novelas, El cuento, Novela cubana, la Gran aventura de la humanidad and Por Nuestros Campos y Ciudades.
In television, her broad acting range has allowed her to assume both dramatic and humorous roles, as well as to be a host and reciter, conditions that she has fully developed on TV. Notable are the Telenovelas El viejo espigón, El año que viene, Salir de noche and Añorado encuentro. In the comedies, Detrás de la fachada, Las hormigas locas and Tiempo de Máquina. In the Television plays, Aire Frío, La negra D. In cinema, Polvo Rojo, Plaff o Demasiado Miedo a la Vida, Las noches de Constantinopla and Aunque estés lejos.
She completed a mission in Ethiopia as a musical comedian, host and actress.
In France, Belgium and Spain she performed in a French version of Macbeth as part of a variety show.
She has received numerous awards and recognitions among which stand out, The Gitana Tropical Distinction, granted by the Provincial Department of Culture of La Habana, ACTUAR Prize for Lifetime Work, Caricato Prize for feminine performance on television granted by the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba for her performance in El año que viene and Caracol Prize for feminine performance on television granted by the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba for El viejo espigón. She holds the Distinction for National Culture.
The National Prize to Natacha Díaz will be presented in a Ceremony for the 73rd Anniversary of Cuban Television, on October 24 at the José Martí Memorial, in La Habana.
