Osleni Guerrero, the main figure in Cuban badminton, abandoned the island's delegation in Mexico and joins the long list of athletes who emigrate to other countries, preferably the United States.

Precisely the Cubalite website confirmed the information based on publications made on Facebook by the athlete himself. In addition to a former teammate of Guerrero who now resides in the United States, Ilian Pérez, who posted: "we feel blessed and happy that our friend and teammate, Osleni Guerrero Velazco, visits us at our church".

Let us recall that the first Cuban badminton player who participated in an Olympic Games (Rio 2016) was in Mexico together with Leodannis Martínez and Thalía Mengana to participate in the II Mexico Future Series 2022, held in Mexico City between August 30 and September 4.

After failing to show up for the men's doubles and mixed doubles matches, he decided to abandon the Cuban delegation, which in fact has no information about the whereabouts of Leodannis and Thalía, which suggests they could have made a similar decision.

Guerrero had three medals in the Pan American Games (silver in Guadalajara 2011 and bronze in Toronto 2015 and Lima 2019, the latter) and they add up to Central American level medals.

The number of Cuban athletes who escape from national delegations is increasing, which is a cause for alarm for Cuban sports authorities.
