The Company of Recordings and Musical Editions (Egrem) today presented the new album La cumbanchera, by renowned Cuban singer Osdalgia, at the Casa de la Música Habana.
At a press conference at the capital's cultural center, the artist indicated that the album includes popular danceable and traditional music, and also fuses Puerto Rican, Colombian, and Cuban sounds from the 1960s and 1980s of the past century.
The phonogram, signed by music producer Emilio Vega, features 10 tracks, among which stand out Recójanse, Consígueme eso, Oración y plegaria, Qué mala intención, Contradicción, Yo bailó de todo, Mayeya, among others.
"After several years without being released, the artist proposes a journey through various genres and eras of Cuban music, where the guaracha, son, bolero, rumba, and Afro-Cuban rhythms stand out, mixed with touches of jazz and timba," noted the album's executive producer, Élsida Gonzáles, in exclusive statements to Prensa Latina.
The musical arrangements for this album were created by Emilio Vega and bring contemporary relevance to anthology pieces from the Cuban record library such as La cumbanchera de Belén, by Celia Cruz, added Gonzáles.
Among the main artists who participated on the album are Roberto Carcassés, Emilio Morales, Lázaro Rivero, Michel Herrera, and Raúl Verdecia.
The instrumentation is distinguished by the use of a large-format orchestra, where improvisations stand out, as well as the performances of pianos, percussion instruments, wind instruments, and the incorporation of bowed strings by musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra.
Osdalgia Lesmes, whose debut took place in 1992, is one of the most significant female voices in the panorama of danceable music on the Caribbean island, with a career dedicated to performing for the public on national stages, in other countries, for record productions, film, and television.
