Cuban outfielder for the Blue Jays, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., underwent surgery on his left wrist Thursday, an injury that caused him problems for much of this season.
The team reported that Gurriel, who was not on the active roster of the Toronto club for its Wild Card Series due to a left hamstring injury, would be ready for the start of Spring Training next year.
The decision to perform the wrist procedure was made following a medical consultation after the Canadian squad was eliminated from the postseason. Gurriel was placed on the injured list on September 9 due to a left hamstring injury that kept him out of action for the rest of the season.
