After months of confinement, there is no better gift for the beautiful city of Havana, on its 501st birthday, than a concert by the sublime Omara Portuondo.

Scheduled for next November 15th at five o'clock in the afternoon at the National Theater of Cuba, the Diva of Buena Vista Social Club, will be accompanied by the also Prize-winning Excelencias, "Miguel Failde" Orchestra.

The event will also serve to, at Portuondo's request, celebrate the 9 decades of life of the virtuoso visual artist Alfredo Sosabravo, National Prize in Plastic Arts.

Likewise, the show will be an opportunity for the official presentation of Havana's declaration as "Creative City," a status granted by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), in the field of music.

Another special motivation for this concert is Portuondo's current nominations for the "Latin Grammy" Award for the album "Mariposas," by Bis Music, and that of the young group for the album "Failde con Tumbao," produced by the Egrem label.

According to the organizers, the purpose is to show the public part of the repertoire that the Cuban Diva performed in the online concert held at the Sauto Theater, in Matanzas, last October of this year.

Guest performers will include Haydée Milanés and the Verdarte company.

This concert is sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music, RTV Comercial, the Provincial Directorate of Culture of Havana, and the Provincial Carnival Center.
