The feeling's sweetheart Omara Portuondo announced a new concert in Querétaro, Mexico, on July 23rd, marking the 492nd anniversary of the founding of that city, following her performance last March in that country as part of her worldwide tour Vida.

She will perform at the theater in that city as part of the activities of the EC(H)O Festival, which commemorates and celebrates between July 22nd and 30th the anniversary of that city, a return that takes place just four months after her performance in Mexico City, on the stage of the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris.

The diva of Buena Vista Social Club during her worldwide tour Vida included a bolero cycle with songs by César Portillo de la Luz and José Antonio Méndez, among other composers.

This tour marked her farewell to some countries that are quite far away, which, due to her age, she will no longer be able to visit, according to her son and manager Ariel Jiménez Portuondo.

For Omara, Mexico is almost her second country, because of the great bond she has had since the 1940s onward.

At the beginning of last month, the performer visited India for the first time to offer a couple of concerts at Windmills Whitefield in Bangalore. Still at age 92, Omara pursues various projects such as the premiere of a musical on Broadway in 2024 and a biographical film and book.
