The Cuban Erick Hernández set a world record this Saturday in ball juggling, keeping the Tel Star 18 ball in the air for 1:05.34 hours without it touching the ground, in the lobby of the Copacabana hotel, in the Cuban capital.
The previous record, of 1:02.05 hours, belonged to the same Havana juggler, set last August at the Roc Barlovento hotel, on the beautiful beach of Varadero.
For this record I worked hard on my upper back, shoulders, pectorals and especially the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which suffers a lot when you touch the ball with your head, commented the athlete.
The well-named "Cuban Juggler" also stated that he strengthened his neck in all its dimensions, as well as the muscles of his lower back, vital for succeeding in the seated position, as well as the lumbar area and quadriceps.
If you compare this record with the previous one (at the Roc Barlovento), I had something in my favor: the ceiling is lower and I'm already used to this place. Now I positioned myself precisely where the white and black colors coincided and, at a certain moment, I moved slowly to one side or the other, he stated.
Hernández, who stated that the temperature helped him a lot because it wasn't hot, concluded that for 2020, which will be an Olympic year, he wants to add an extra as all the world's jugglers do. And regarding his continued participation in these disciplines, he stated that, as long as he remains motivated, he will continue trying to break records.
When I don't feel comfortable, I won't attempt anything else; but right now it's not a sacrifice for me, but something I enjoy very much, he concluded.
