"Love Me as I Am" is renewed alongside Cristian Alejandro and Lucía González De la Peña, the music video features the participation of popular actresses María Isabel Díaz and Edith Massola and the author of the work, Pablo Milanés.
The song was originally composed for the Cuban film A Girlfriend for David, starring both Cuban actresses, who more than 30 years later come together in this project to give the theme song "another vision."
In the music video, María Isabel and Edith recreate some scenes from the film, which are mixed with other original ones. All the material was filmed from the homes of the artists and musicians during these quarantine times.
Love Me as I Am, Another Vision is part of the #TeQuieroPablo project, supported by the Latin Institute of Music, founded in Mexico in 1921, as highlighted in a statement.
Cristian Alejandro and Lucía González, the two singers who joined the new version, are the son of Cuban composer Edesio Alejandro and she is a young Spanish singer.
The musical production is in charge of bassist Yaser González, who brought together prestigious musicians Dayán Abad, guitarist for Rosario Flores; Luis Dulzaides, percussionist for Alejandro Sanz, Estopa and Miguel Bosé; Cuban pianist Miguelito Nuñez, who has been working with Pablo for 30 years and has played with Joaquín Sabina, Joan Manuel Serrat, Iván Lins, Fito Páez and Chucho Valdés; violinist Will Corujo, who has worked with Franco de Vita, Laura Pausini and David Bisbal, and cellists Alejandro and Paula Pérez Diez.
A Girlfriend for David, directed by Orlando Rojas, premiered in 1985 and marked the film debut of María Isabel Díaz Lago, who subsequently built a career in Spain, and Edith Massola, who became one of the most popular television presenters in Cuba.
The film, which won several national and international awards, focuses on a group of students in the late sixties, in which the men bet on conquering the most beautiful women. Edith Massola played Olga, the most beautiful and coveted of the group, and María Isabel played Ofelia, a responsible student with a few extra pounds. The third main actor in the film was Jorge Luis Álvarez, who found himself caught in the dilemma between Olga's beauty and Ofelia's good heart.
