Two years after the premiere of the fifteenth short film in the "Tales of Nicanor O´Donnell" series, also considered the final episode of this cinematic creation by Cuban writer Eduardo del Llano, the artist has informed his official Facebook profile that he is working on a new production. "It's not a Nicanor, but it has some connection," he wrote.
In his post he stated that he already has a cast. Based on photos alluding to a production meeting, the short would feature actresses recognized by the Cuban public for their work in both film and television, including Tahimí Alvariño, Laura de la Uz, and Jacqueline Arenal.
The series "Tales of Nicanor O´Donnell," which began with the controversial short Monte Rouge and continued in that tone of social satire in successive shorts, was based on texts by the writer and its impact was due to artistic resources, recreated with humor, and themes relating to submerged stories and critiques of various circumstances of Cuban reality.
To carry out his project, Del Llano was accompanied by actors who became the face of these stories.
Luis Alberto García played the protagonist, while Néstor Jiménez, Osvaldo Doimeadiós, Mario Guerra, Carlos Gonzalvo, and others were also part of that cast.
The series was distributed independently and reached a high level of viewers through alternative distribution platforms such as the so-called "weekly package" as well as through flash drives.
Although he has become better known among Cubans through this series of shorts, Eduardo del Llano has also had an important career as a screenwriter in Cuban cinema and has directed films such as Omega 3, a science fiction film that was his second feature-length film and featured performances by Carlos Gonzalvo, Dailenys Fuentes, Héctor Noas, and Omar Franco, among others.
