Many were waiting for it. On September 23rd we have the premiere of Blonde, after Netflix has finally released its trailer.
The Cuban Ana de Armas took on the challenge of playing Marilyn Monroe. A project pursued by controversy due to its supposed strong sexual content. In fact, 'Blonde' will have the honor of being the first Netflix film to receive the dreaded NC-17 rating in the United States.
This caused the platform to refuse to release it that way at first, mainly because of a graphic scene of sexual assault, but it finally gave in. Written and directed by Andrew Dominik, 'Blonde' is an adaptation of the novel of the same name, a historical fiction written by Joyce Carol Oates. And although many media outlets describe it as a biopic of Marilyn Monroe, the truth is that the story will have more fiction than we expected.
The main cast of 'Blonde' is completed by: Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Julianne Nicholson, Caspar Phillipson, Toby Huss, Sara Paxton, David Warshofsky, Evan Williams, Jr. Xavier Samuel, Garret Dillahun, Scoot McNairy, Lucy DeVito, Michael Masini, Spencer Garrett, Chris Lemmon, Rebecca Wisocky, Ned Bellamy and Dan Butler.
Recall that filming of the film began in August 2019 but did not finish until July 2021, due to an inevitable halt caused by coronavirus. "I have seen a first version of Andrew Dominick's adaptation and it is stunning, brilliant, very disturbing and, perhaps most surprising, a completely 'feminist' interpretation... I was not sure that any male director has achieved anything like this," said the original book's author herself.
Let's hope this is one of the best Netflix movies of 2022.
