On the afternoon of Friday, September 29, the death of Cuban musician Tirso Duarte was confirmed, a prominent arranger and pianist, who was allegedly attacked after finishing a performance in Tumaco, Nariño, on Thursday, September 28.
The Cuban salsa and urban salsa singer, Tirso Duarte, died in the city of Pasto after receiving a brutal beating in the city of Tumaco, department of Nariño.
According to information provided by the radio station El Sol de Cali, Duarte died from cardiorespiratory arrest at the Departmental Hospital of Pasto, in Nariño, where he had been transferred to be treated by a specialist due to the severity of his injuries.
According to the report from authorities, the artist was found in the middle of a public street in the La Cordialidad neighborhood beaten, with multiple traumatic injuries and wounded with a sharp instrument.
The initial medical report indicated that the artist had severe head trauma and a laceration in the thorax resulting from an attack with a bladed weapon. The mayor of Cali, Jorge Iván Ospina, spoke about the incident on X (formerly Twitter): "A true 'Timbero' has departed, to all the neighbors of East Cali, especially from his beloved Vergel, to his family and friends, my sincere condolences.
Tirso Duarte, with all his talent, was above all people, rhythm, cadence and strength". From Brazil, the son of the Cuban singer asked for help to be able to reach Colombia and say his final goodbye. "I am destroyed": heartbreaking plea from Tirso Duarte's son to be able to say goodbye to him. Tirso Duarte, 45 years old, was one of the great artists based in Colombia. He was part of Charanga Habanera and also recorded a song with 'Guaycán', titled 'El Más Rico Beso'
