Roberto "Bobby" Batista, Son of Dictator Fulgencio Batista, Dies in Spain

Roberto "Bobby" Batista Fernández, one of the nine children of Fulgencio Batista, passed away on January 12, 2022 in Madrid at the age of 74.

His daughter, Esther Batista, confirmed her father's death from pancreatic cancer after several months of convalescence at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, in the Spanish capital.

In an Instagram post, she wrote: "Safe travels Dad. I love you," a message that followed one she had shared the previous week, when her parent was still fighting pancreatic cancer.

Born in 1947 and a lawyer by profession, Editorial Verbum published his book Hijo de Batista last year.

His funeral was held at the Cementerio de San Isidro, the oldest cemetery in Madrid, where the remains of his parents, Fulgencio Batista and Marta Fernández, and his brother Carlos Manuel rest.
