The boy Dubiel Pupo Espinosa was buried in his native city Felton, Mayarí, in a ceremony in which family members were accompanied by the entire town along with the players with whom he made up the last baseball team that represented this province in the National Championship in the 9-10 years category.
Praised by coaches for his physical qualities and talent for the game of strikes and balls, "El Peque," as they affectionately nicknamed him, had been admitted to the provincial children's hospital Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja, where he died from multiple organ dysfunction, resulting from a pulmonary thromboembolism generated by a sudden illness.
THE FAMILY of Cuban sports mourned today the death of the boy from Holguín Dubiel Pupo Espinosa, member of that province's last baseball team, 9-10 years category.
"A harsh blow, a moment of irreparable pain for his parents and other family members, to whom we express our condolences," wrote the president of Inder, Osvaldo Vento Montiller, on his Twitter social network account.
"He fought with honor to overcome his sudden illness, but unfortunately he said goodbye to us this morning on August 4, 2020," published colleague Vladimir Marrero, who highlighted the professionalism of the specialists at Hospital Octavio de la Concepción y de la Pedraja.
"They always did everything possible to save his life," he stated regarding the efforts deployed in the Holguín institution where the 11-year-old boy died victim of multiple organ dysfunction, resulting from a pulmonary thromboembolism generated after a sudden illness.
"We share the consternation of parents, family members, teachers and classmates," said to JIT the national director of baseball, Ernesto Reynoso, who maintained contact with sports authorities in Holguín, informed about the unfortunate episode.
