Brigadier General José Castro Delgado, who for several years protected Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, died this Wednesday in Havana at the age of 86.
Castro Delgado came from a rural background and from a young age joined the revolutionary struggle in his native territory of Manicaragua, in the central province of Villa Clara.
Likewise, he held various responsibilities during 49 years of service in the ranks of the Ministry of Interior with a sense of belonging and loyalty to the Cuban Revolution and its Communist Party.
In his service record to the Homeland are several state decorations, including Medals for Clandestine Struggle, Fight Against Bandits; "Olo Pantoja" and "Eliseo Reyes," both of the first class.
Similarly, as a reward for his exemplary career he received several distinctions and commemorative seals.
