A Cuban actress is changing the rules of the theatrical game in Paris. Miriel Cejas, recognized for some roles in Cuban cinema, founded and directs Théâtre A LA MINUTE, an innovative concept that promises to transform the scenic experience in the City of Light.
The project, which opened its doors on May 14, represents a revolution in the traditional format of theater: it offers 15-minute pieces for intimate audiences of 15 people, creating a unique experience that combines the intensity of a theatrical short film with the magic of live performance.
The space, designed to maximize the connection between actors and audience, features rooms of 9 to 12 square meters where spectators integrate into the décor without the need for active participation. Each evening presents four short works, organized thematically.
The dynamics of the theater are as unique as its concept: the audience moves between different rooms after each performance, with 10-minute breaks between pieces. With up to four different works per day and eight per quarter, Théâtre A LA MINUTE positions itself as a space in constant renewal.
But the project goes beyond theatrical performances. It includes a central bar that promotes local commerce and spaces for exhibitions and surprise performances, creating an integral cultural atmosphere where the public can interact with artists in a creative and warm environment.
"It is a unique concept in France," explains Cejas on her social networks, highlighting that the ultra-dynamic format is designed for theater lovers, but also for curious audiences seeking fast and original entertainment in tune with contemporary expectations.
The creation of this innovative theatrical space represents the most recent milestone in the career path of this Caribbean artist. Born in 1988, the Cuban is not only a graduate of Dramatic Arts from the National School of Art, but also holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Havana, a duality that has enriched her approach to the scenic field.
Her trajectory in Cuban cinema includes roles in films such as Lisanka (for which she obtained the Best Actress award at the 20th Iberoamerican Film Festival of Ceará and the "Adolfo Llauradó" award in Cuba), Conducta, Boleto al paraíso and La cosa humana.
In 2016, seeking to expand her career internationally, she moved to Madrid, where she participated in productions such as La princesa Paca and the French film Ibiza, demonstrating her versatility by acting in French. She also was part of the cast of La espuma de los días, directed by Fernando Timossi.
Parallel to her artistic career, Cejas has maintained her connection with psychology, collaborating with the Spanish website OK Bienestar and focusing on emotional intelligence and social skills. Her work in this field includes experience with children and young people between six and 21 years old, combining her knowledge of psychology with her experience as an actress and dramatic arts teacher.
With Théâtre A LA MINUTE, Miriel Cejas is not only innovating in the Parisian theatrical landscape, but is also creating a space that reflects her own artistic and professional evolution: a place where art, psychology, and experimentation come together to create a unique experience.
