The highly decorated Cuban wrestler Mijaín López is part of the athletes highlighted worldwide, announced as new ambassadors of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
Panam Sports, the highest continental sports organization, announced on Thursday the names of 11 important athletes who join the representative figures of the event, whose headquarters will be the Chilean capital and other cities in the South American country.
Together this group of stars accumulate 15 Olympic medals, 41 world titles and 14 Pan American medals and are proof that with effort and dedication it is possible to become a champion, stated the official site of the highest continental entity.
Regarding Mijaín López, he has an impressive record of four Olympic titles, five-time world champion and the same number of Pan American crowns in the Greco-Roman wrestling specialty.
He is considered the best current athlete in his sport and at Paris 2024 he could inscribe his name in universal records if, as expected, he imposes his quality once again.
The other Pan American ambassadors announced today by Panam Sports are Mexican Alejandra Orozco, in the diving discipline; Rebeca Andrade, artistic gymnast from Brazil; Canadian swimmer Maggie Mac Neil and Venezuelan BMX cyclist Daniel Dhers.
They are accompanied by athlete from Grenada Anderson Peters; Argentine Agustina Albertario, from field hockey; Marileidy Paulino, athlete from Dominican Republic; and Ángelo Caro, from the skateboarding specialty, from Peru.
Completing the list are cousins Marco and Esteban Crimalt, the main figures of beach volleyball from Chile.
