Miguel Ángel López is the terror of receivers in Brazil

February 26, 2021

The Cuban Miguel Ángel López reaffirmed himself as the best server in the Brazilian Superliga, contributing three direct points, 15 in total, to Sada Cruzeiro's 3-0 success over Montes Claros America Volei, thus maintaining the top position in the South American tournament, with 18 victories and one defeat.

López had an 86% attack efficiency and received at 53%, but the most outstanding aspect was the force with which he achieved his three service points, with shots measured at 130, 131 and 134 kilometers per hour, credentials that contributed to him being named Most Valuable Player of the match, according to Sada Cruzeiro's Twitter account.

With this performance, the Cuban international is in the ideal lineup of the Superliga, leading the servers with 22 points, and among the ten best attackers, with 56% effectiveness and a total of 210 points, 22 of them by blocking, in 57 sets played.

The Island's auxiliary has already tasted the fruits of success with his current team, having won the Copa de Brasil and the Mineiro championship, and has great possibilities of adding the league tournament of the South American giant to his trophies, as Cruzeiro holds a seven-point advantage over second place in the tournament, Ems Taubate Funvic.

On the other side of the map, the Italian club Lube Civitanova fell 1-3 to Zaksa Kedziedzierzyn-Kozle, from Poland, in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the European Champions League, a match in which Cuban Robertlandy Simón stood out with 14 points for the defeated side.

Simón had nine attack points and five aces from the service line, for a 90% offensive efficiency. (Sports Desk)
