The Inter-American Council of Crafts and Popular Art, IBEROARTE, has granted the title of honorary member to prominent cultural promoter Mercy Correa Piñero in recognition of her tireless work over more than 40 years in the promotion and development of crafts in Cuba.

The news, which was announced at the constituent meeting of the organization, fills with satisfaction the large family of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC), particularly the artisans, artists and creators throughout the island.

Mercy is founder of the Crafts Fairs and has participated in the organization of all their editions with different responsibilities.

In her long career at the FCBC, she served as commercial director, specialist in the promotion department and director of the National Center for Crafts; for all this, she was deserving of the award For a Lifetime of Work.

Internationally, she represented Cuba in the World Council of Crafts as vice president of that organization in Latin America, which allowed her to place the name of Cuban crafts very high.

Today, although already retired, Mercy remains active and continues to be an inexhaustible source of ideas and projects. Her commitment to the artisanal environment defines her as a passionate and dedicated woman.
