Cuban doctor Pablo Puente is one of the 100 best doctors in the world

Pablo Odeley Puente Fumero, a Cuban doctor naturalized as a U.S. citizen who currently practices in Madrid, was highlighted as one of the 100 best doctors in the world by Top100doc, reported Forbes magazine on Thursday.

Dr. Puente, born in the Cuban city of Camagüey, graduated from medicine at the former ISCM Carlos J. Finlay (2009), a center of higher learning that is now the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey. During his time as a student, he served as a volunteer for the Cuban Red Cross, an institution where he held the position of president of the National Youth section, between 2006 and 2009.

According to the article published in Forbes, the Cuban doctor has extensive international experience in countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, the U.S., Cuba, and Spain. For his "outstanding medical and philanthropic work," he has received international recognition.

In 2021, Pablo Odeley Puente was nominated by Topdoctors España as one of the best physicians in excellence and quality of service. In addition, he was a finalist in the Doctoralia 2022 best doctors list and received recognition from the Community of Madrid for his assistance to refugees from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The news agency Europa Press also published a report on the distinction as one of the 100 best doctors in the world awarded to Pablo Odeley Puente Fumero, whom they describe as "one of the most highly regarded currently in Spain."

The Cuban-American doctor is also known for his medical outreach interviews on television networks such as Telemundo 51, where he speaks about health topics in a clear and simple manner.

In 2015, his humanitarian work during the Caribbean refugee crisis in Costa Rica made headlines in the Latino community of the United States. At that time, Dr. Puente made himself available to people who were stranded in several camps, without basic medical supplies and in precarious conditions.

According to the cited media outlets, currently Pablo Odeley Puente stands out as a general practitioner in Madrid, and "maintains active collaboration in the field of research in the United Kingdom."
