The 2020 edition of the Gilberto Caballero Almeida Scientific Journalism contest awarded its most important prize, the Lifetime Achievement Award, to the television program Antena, by Mara Roque, in recognition of the news coverage it has provided on the main national and international events related to science, technology and the environment, since 1993, held in Cuba, as well as to the journeys and dates of global scope related to them.

The jury highlighted that in the XXIII edition of the contest 89 communicative products from 54 journalists competed, grouped into four categories: Print Press (29), Radio (15), Television (7) and Digital Journalism (23).

In the Print Press section, the prize went to the series of works made up of "Una mujer maravilla al servicio de la ciencia", "Con la Ciencia en el Corazón" and "Virtuosismo de la Ciencia", by Ada Durán del Río, from Periódico Mayabeque; in Radio, it was won by "La Joya", an interview by Yoslaine Dieppa Hernández, from Radio Camoa (Mayabeque).

The Television award went to the documentary Silva a lo natural, by Krystel Aspillaga Rojo, from the News System of Cuban Television; and in Digital Journalism to the article "El sol de Cuba sí quema", by Sayli Sosa Barceló, from the newspaper Invasor (Ciego de Ávila).

Likewise, four institutions presented collateral awards: the Environmental Agency (AM) to the report "¿Espejos dónde mirarse?", by Marieta Cabrera Jaular, from Bohemia magazine; the Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies Agency to the article "Nanopartículas de carbono podría impactar en aplicaciones Biomédicas", by Lissette Martín López from the newspaper Tribuna de La Habana.

The National Museum of Natural History presented a recognition to "Biodiversidad, incondicionalmente habaneros", by Yanel Blanco Miranda, from Juventud Técnica magazine; and the Cuban Industrial Property Office to "Reconoce Cuba contribución académica de la OMPI", by Ledys Camacho Casado, from Opciones magazine (belonging to Editora Juventud Rebelde).

The AMA also granted mentions to Mariana Saker Labrada, for her television program A Tiempo; and to Omelio Borroto Leiseca, for the documentary series Naturaleza Secreta de Cuba.
