In recent months, Manolín has made several performances in Cuba, after forming a new orchestra. He recently performed in Pinar del Río and before scientists working on vaccine development.

The singer-songwriter changed his mind, after announcing on his social media in 2021 that he was retiring from music since his dreams were fulfilled and because "the privilege is to lead a private life, away from fame."

After many years living in the United States and Europe, Manuel González returned to Cuba where "I got excited again and reconnected with music."

According to what he said in a video shared in February 2022, in Havana "I sleep peacefully, I sleep like the gods. I wake up in the morning like now, I sit here on the terrace, I grab the guitar and I start composing songs," he described.
