The talented Cuban magician Rogelio Ruiz Morales, who emigrated to the U.S. a few years ago, took first place in the IBM Stage Magic Competition, one of the most important magic competitions in the world.
Morales himself shared his joy with the result in several posts on his social networks. "Once again us Cubans took the prize home," he wrote in one of them, which he accompanied with images from the moment of the award ceremony, of the statuette, and of his celebration with other participants.
For some days now, the magician had announced that he was attending the IBM (International Brotherhood of Magicians) congress, and later reported that he would be among the performers at the competitive gala for the Medal of Gold of Excellence.
Rogelio also shared a video of his encounter with the great American magician Jeff McBride, Grand Master of the Brotherhood and from whom he learned everything about manipulations, he confessed.
According to what he also recounted, they asked him that "if he was Cuban, why didn't he represent Cuba," to which, he assures, he responded: "I will always be Cuban but the United States is what gave me freedom and allowed me to enjoy this gift. So in any competition I will represent the United States. So leave me as it is: Roger Ruiz / Florida"
This, he indicates, happened during a meeting with all the competitors where the magicians' country of origin was being revealed.
For Rogelio, being able to live in the United States is already a prize, while he felt very helpless while he was in Cuba and could not participate in any event.
Rogelio received congratulations from both Miami and Cuba, as can be seen in his Instagram and Facebook posts. In them, his followers and friends praised his abilities and celebrated his achievement.
