June 27, 2018

Who said that art and talent are lost with age? Cuban actress and singer Rosita Fornés is a clear example that years are no impediment to continuing to carry the soul of an artist.

At 95 years old, the vedette has surprised audiences on social media through a video in which she appears singing a duet with fellow Cuban singer Ana María Perera.

Seated in her chair, Fornés lends her voice and delivers a beautiful performance in time with Perera's piano, which makes us remember those years when she was the absolute queen of the stage.

Rosita Fornés, or "The Vedette of Cuba," is undoubtedly one of the great figures of Cuban art. Born in New York in 1923, she took her first steps in the arts at just 18 years old with her debut at the Teatro Principal de la Comedia in the operetta El asombro de Damasco.

From then on, the stages of the finest theaters fell at her feet. Her intelligence, her beauty, her ease and ability to bring to life the characters that crossed her path, and her melodic voice, made Fornés a familiar face in the most frequented venues in Cuba, the United States, and much of Latin America.

Film, television, and radio are also part of her extensive professional career, acting in various programs as well as in several films.

Today, with almost a century behind her, Fornés remains one of the most beloved artists in Cuba and continues to share the talent that took her to the top.
