From the tranquility of the current pandemic, the album "Los herederos" was born, as a tribute to one of the musicians who has most contributed to the development of music in Cuba, Chucho Valdés, and to the group created by him, Irakere.
Composed of 10 songs and produced by the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (EGREM), the album promises to be an exquisite musical proposal, since it is a journey from the traditional to the most contemporary and electronic music of Cuba.
A luxury panel made up of musicologist Elsida González, Orlando Valle "Maraca", Germán Velazco and César López presented the album at a meeting that also served to recall through anecdotes the golden times of Irakere.
Among the guest artists who are part of "Los herederos" -already on sale for 75 Cuban pesos- are Mayquel González, Leonardo Milano, Jesús Anduz, Yasek Manzano, Cimafunk, Alejandro Falcón, Alexander Abreu, Cucurucho Valdés, Harold López-Nussa, Yaroldy Abreu, Enrique Plá, Rodny Barreto, Alfred Thompson and Rolando Luna.
The making off of the recording process at Studio 18 was also presented, directed by Rolando Almirante, as well as the snapshots taken by Alejandro Azcuy, showing the high technical level and complexity of each musical arrangement.
On January 28, the first promotional single from the album will be released, "Baila mi ritmo", produced by Leonardo Milano and Roniel Alfonso, in which Cimafunk is the singer who will get listeners dancing.
Irakere was founded in 1973 with the objective of bringing together and organizing the best musicians who were part at that time of the Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna.
Dedicated to the interpretation of genres such as songo, Latin jazz, fusion and Afro-Cuban, Irakere was a launching point in the development of Cuban music when it comes to jazz, mainly within the field of electronic sonorities mixed with Afro-Cuban ones.
