The star pitcher from Pinar del Río, Liván Moinelo, a member of the Japanese baseball team SoftBank Hawks, made a donation of sports equipment to the roster of the Vegueros de Pinar del Río.
From Japan and paid with his salary as a player for one of the teams in that nation's Professional League, the shipment includes bats, baseballs, gloves, leagues, pitcher belts, among others, valued at around five thousand dollars.
Alexander Urquiola, director of the Vueltabajera selection, explained that before leaving this season for the so-called Land of the Rising Sun, Moinelo expressed his desire to contribute to the Vegueros, the roster to which the left-hander belongs, and inquired about the main needs of the team.
This donation will help a lot with the team's preparation, especially considering the country's situation at this moment, he pointed out.
We spoke with Moinelo this morning and thanked him; and he expressed his eagerness to join the Pinar del Río roster, highlighted the manager.
Liván Moinelo, 24 years old and native of the municipality of Pinar del Río, made his debut in 2017 in the Japanese circuit with which he has been crowned three consecutive times.
Since 2013 he has been part of the roster of the Pinar del Río greens alongside whom he became champion in the LIII National Series and in the Caribbean Series in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2015.
