The popular singer and songwriter Liuba María Hevia and her group performed on Monday, September 10 at the Hospital Infantil Sur Dr. Antonio María Béguez César, the former Colonia Española on Avenida 24 de Febrero (Trocha) in the city of Santiago de Cuba.

Liuba María, a renowned performer, guitarist, and composer, is an idol to the Cuban public, and even more so among the children's audience for whom she has written and sung numerous songs.

From the above, one can infer the effect that the singer's performance had in the oncohematology ward of the southern pediatric center "… Béguez César".

Born on December 14, 1964 in Havana, Hevia is a genuine example of Cuban culture. She has been part of the MNT (Movimiento de la Nueva Trova) since 1982, and according to those who have studied her career in depth, "she is part of an event of search and splendor of Cuban troubadour songwriting".

In a reference to the performer, on Wikipedia The free encyclopedia it is stated that "her songs are characterized by a high level of poetry and beauty; melodic, rhythmic, and thematic variety. In her compositions, Cuban musical genres emerge that form her sonic world, including free song, guajira, son, habanera, and danzón".

In 1990, the singer organized her own group which includes cello and violin to give classical meaning to some of her songs, as well as the tres and lute for country music, which together with percussion and guitars form a special complement to the numbers she sings.

Throughout decades and with work marked by musical quality and the lyrics of her songs, Liuba has consolidated her popularity and a prolific recording production, much of which she has devoted to children's audiences, for example, among other albums: ¡Atentos! Traigo un regalo, Secretos cantados, various moments from Travesía mágica; also, several editions of Entre locos bajitos, Juego de dominó reversible, Granito de canela, Señor Arcoíris, Liuba canta a Teresita…

To this work are added other records such as Coloreando la esperanza, Habaneras en el tiempo, Alguien me espera, Del verso a la mar, Ilumíname, Ángel y habanera, Anatomía de La Habana, with José María Vitier, David Torrens and Sexto Sentido; Alguien me espera, Del verso a la mar, Puertas, with Ana Belén, Luis Represas and José Ángel Hevia; Definitivamente puertas, Liuba María Hevia: all her videos, Naranjo en flor, first anthology of tangos; Colección 30 años, El mapa de mis canciones.

She also has among her videos: El trencito y la hormiga, Travesía mágica, Con los hilos de la Luna…

UNICEF named her in 2012 Goodwill Ambassador "in recognition of the sustained and careful work that, as part of her vocation for social work, she carries out for children, not only in halls and theaters, but also in neighborhoods and hospitals throughout the country, where, in addition to her own works, Liuba performs those of Ada Elba Pérez, Teresita Fernández, Gabilondo Soler, and María Elena Walsh".

Beyond Cuban stages, the singer-songwriter has taken her art to Spain, France, Switzerland, Ethiopia, Peru, Angola, Chile, Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Canada, Bolivia…

Tomorrow Tuesday, the singer and part of her group will attend a press conference at the headquarters of the Empresa Comercializadora de la Música y los Espectáculos, facing the Casa de la Trova, on Heredia Street.

Everything will be ready then for this Wednesday, September 12, at 8:30 p.m., the time set for the concert that Liuba María and her group will offer in the Sala Dolores, accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Oriente with guest conductor, maestro Enrique Pérez Mesa.
