The renowned Cuban composer and performer Liuba María Hevia will set aside her faithful companion the guitar to act in a music video with the local puppet theater group Teatro de las Estaciones, it was reported today.
The audiovisual is based on the work Nana a mi marioneta, a piece included on an album that came out 20 years ago and is now returning renewed, said Hevia and Rubén Darío Salazar, director of the aforementioned collective and National Theater Prize winner, at a press conference here.
This story, described as lyrical and full of peace, presents a Liuba María who will act as a puppeteer and minstrel and at the end of the performance, returning to her dressing room, the puppets lose their strings and go on to live a night.
The work team is completed by Zenén Calero, National Theater Prize winner, in the design of the puppet characters; choreographer Yadiel Durán; young dancer María Fernanda Martínez, while the images will be in charge of filmmaker Midiel Santana.
The project, scheduled to be carried out this Tuesday, May 11, will be presented on television and social networks, although the directors advanced that the premiere will be in this three-hundred-year-old city.
"I also believe that the initiative is a preamble to doing other things together," expressed Hevia, who received the Distinction for National Culture, and UNICEF named her in 2012 Ambassador of Goodwill in recognition of her sustained and careful work with children.
Salazar, for his part, emphasized that Liuba María has always remained in the imagination of the Cuban people and has been faithful to her roots.
"We are living in difficult times and we are left to think about beautiful projects for our children, to fill their lives with optimism and illusions. Every contribution we make will be a gift that we give and give ourselves," he emphasized.
