Cuban world champion triple jumper Leyanis Pérez Hernández made her 2026 Diamond League debut at the Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway on June 11, finishing third with a best jump of 14.60 meters.
The competition was won by Davisleydi Velazco, a Cuban-born athlete competing under a different flag, who matched her personal best of 14.85 meters on her very first attempt. Senegal's Saly Sarr claimed second place with 14.75 meters, a new personal best.
Olympic champion Thea Lafond of Dominica finished fifth with 14.49 meters, while fellow Cuban Liadagmis Povea placed sixth with 14.21 meters.
In the men's event, Cuban triple jumper Lázaro Martínez also competed in Oslo, finishing fourth while setting his best mark of the year at 17.33 meters. Jamaican Jordan Scott won the competition (17.66m), followed by Cuban-born Andy Díaz representing Italy (17.59m) and Algeria's Yasser Mohammed Triki (17.43m).
Pérez Hernández, 24, from Pinar del Río, enters the 2026 Diamond League season as reigning world champion both indoors and outdoors, having won the double world title in Toruń, Poland in March 2026, cementing her dominance in international women's triple jump.
