Leoni Torres Sings Another Song by Polo Montañez

Cuban singer Leoni Torres surprises his followers with another theme by legendary Polo Montañez, a year after the success of his version of "Si fuera mía", also by the Pinar del Río composer.

"You asked me to sing more songs by Polo Montañez and here we are preparing it," Torres said this Sunday on his Instagram account, where he shares a video in which fragments of his version of the well-known song "Canten" can be heard.

After revealing this new proposal, one of his followers commented that "those beautiful songs by maestro Polo, now performed by you, are the eighth wonder of the world".

According to information disclosed by Leoni Torres himself in a Facebook comment, it is "an album with six songs that the public has been asking me for for a long time". He also encouraged his followers to tell him "what songs you would like us to record".

"It's very difficult for me to sing Polo's songs because no one will do it better than him," he concluded his comment, which immediately gained hundreds of reactions.

The Cuban singer has been very active lately. He recently premiered the music video for his new song "Pista 6", featuring Cuban actress Beatriz Valdés, remembered by the Cuban public for her leading role in the film La bella del Alhambra.

He also had a resounding success at the concert "Two Generations, One Cuba", which he offered alongside Cuban-American singer and composer Willy Chirino, at the James L. Knight Center, in addition to his presentation to close 2021 at the Flamingo Theater Bar in Miami.

Singing with Chirino was making one of Leoni Torres' greatest dreams come true. "The boy from Santa Cruz del Sur who listened to Willy Chirino and knew his songs. Today I fulfill one of my dreams singing alongside you. It is a great honor to sing by your side. Thank you for the invitation," he commented on Facebook on that occasion.

2021 was a great year for the Cuban singer, who decided to settle with his family in the United States. He was also nominated for the 2021 Latin Grammy Awards for his album Alma Cubana, in the "Best Traditional Tropical Album" category.
