"Last July 31st we received the news: Eusebio Leal died. And many Cubans, even without knowing him personally, wept and felt the departure of a man who became a city.

"It was not only old Havana that benefited from the work and dedication of this incomparable historian. His work expanded to many places, to many fields, and Cuban cinema was one of them. Several of our films counted on his thought, advice and judgment; just as several of our filmmakers were his friends, companions in gatherings and fraternal exchanges.

"The September dossier, the month of his birth, we dedicate to Eusebio Leal. We especially thank the president of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, Iván Giroud, for contributing two of his texts. May this compilation, which brings together both words from the erudite historian and others spoken by those who loved and admired him, serve as a tribute to the eternal suitor of Havana, loyal to time, loyal to cinema", the note explains.

The dossier in tribute to this great man includes texts such as The most useful Cuban of his time, by Rafael Acosta de Arriba; I Will Be Loyal to You, by Alejandro Gil; and Let us never forget, a writing by Eusebio Leal himself.
