"La Vida" by Silvio Rodríguez in new album by Argentine pianist Juan Carlos Cambas

The Argentine pianist Juan Carlos Cambas described this Monday as a round-trip his most recent album A viaxe, in which Cuban and Spanish artists have collaborated.

The song La vida (1995), by Cuban Silvio Rodríguez, returns in the hands of Cambas, while the string quartet Alos Quartet is in charge of closing the album.

This production took the artist ten years and, according to him, "honors the open arms that Galicia extended to me when I arrived 18 years ago".

Regarding this professional experience with the Cuban singer-songwriter, the leader of the quartet, Xabier Zeberio, assured that it is about "our most special collaborations", since Silvio Rodríguez becomes "an example of so many people who were and continue to be, without knowing it, exporters and ambassadors of their own culture".

The instrumentalist started from the concept of immigration between both shores of the Atlantic Ocean to offer a musical and cultural round-trip between Spain and America, through his own life story.

Among the collaborators stand out Dulce Pontes, LeónGieco, Julia Zenko, Kepa Junkera (in Bihar arte, with singer Nahuel Pennisi), Mafalda Arnauth, João Alfonso, Hernán Crespo, Uxía, Juan Carlos Baglietto and Daniel Casares, among others.

A Viaxe -the artist shared on his official site- "is my DNA, my biography told in first person through music, but it is also the story of thousands of emigrants who, like my parents, crossed the ocean in search of a better future for them and their families that remained back in Spain".

Likewise, he noted that the recording encompasses music with identity and belonging, in which to take refuge and that transcend borders, for traveling souls with new destinations to discover, "an encounter and fusion in an integrative and enriching journey through the best of the music of both Atlantic shores".
