The life of Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés will be told in a documentary currently being prepared by audiovisual filmmaker Fabien Pisani.

The production, according to Mexican film producer Carlos Sosa, will portray his years as founder of the Nueva Trova Cubana, but will also record the current stage of the troubadour, when he has resumed artistic tours after overcoming health problems.

"We're already filming, I estimate that we'll be finished by mid-next year; we just finished being in Spain at one of Pablo's concerts (as part of his Días de luz 2022 tour, which will run until April), we filmed in Havana, we're going to film in Mexico City, also on a tour through Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, at some point during filming we're going to go to Brazil, and perhaps to Argentina," he revealed to the newspaper El Sol de México.

Pisani, born in 1971, is a producer of feature films, documentaries, institutional audiovisuals, and cultural events, and resides in New York.

His career includes the production of feature films such as 7 días en La Habana and En la caliente, of which he was screenwriter and director. He also headed the Musicabana festival, which was held in the Cuban capital in May 2016, months after the restoration of relations between Cuba and the United States.

Pablito, who just turned 79 years old, is touring Spain as part of his "Días de Luz" tour, which during the past year also took him to venues in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Florida, New York, and Washington.

In a recent interview with the EFE agency, the troubadour explained that he chose the title "Días de Luz" for the concerts, because during the pandemic lockdown he only thought about when he would enjoy those days of light again.

"I didn't think that the multinationals, the governments, the parties, and so on, were going to let me down; and that they weren't going to count on human beings at all. But well, they haven't finished yet. And here we are waiting and waiting," he said.

In 2017, Cuban filmmaker Juan Pin Vilar directed the documentary Pablo Milanés, in which the famous singer-songwriter spoke for the first time about topics such as his childhood, the revolutionary triumph, his time in the UMAP, his relationship with his mother and his first wife, among others.
