"La última" is the title of the first Spanish series on Disney+ that premiered on December 2nd and features performances by Cubans Jorge Perugorría and María Isabel Díaz Lago.
In the leading roles of this production are the renowned singer Aitana Ocaña and actor Miguel Bernardeau ("Élite"), who will play the characters of Candela and Diego.
"La última" narrates the encounters and misunderstandings of these characters through a journey across love, friendship, and the struggle to find their way.
In addition to these main roles, Spanish press outlets have highlighted the participation of other actors. Such is the case of Jorge Perugorría, whom Spanish audiences know for his role in "Fresa y Chocolate," among other films.
The press highlights Perugorría's recent recognition "with the Gold Medal from the Spanish Film Academy for his contribution to Spanish cinema with films such as "Volavérunt," "Cuando vuelvas a mi lado," and "Vientos de La Habana."
In the case of María Isabel Díaz, although she plays a small role in this series, she is a beloved actress among the Iberian nation's audience, mainly for her role in the Netflix series "Vis a vis."
Singer Aitana's acting debut has received extensive media coverage in Spanish outlets, highlighting her acting abilities, in addition to her renowned musical talent. Aitana develops the story of Candela, a young worker at a logistics company who dreams of being a singer, and whose life changes when one night an executive from a multinational record label hears her sing in a bar.
"La Última" has been described as a story of overcoming obstacles, disappointment, hope, courage, and empowerment, in a kind of generational portrait of finding one's way in life and discovering love.
Other notable artists have also participated in the remaining roles, such as Aitor Luna ("Los hombres de Paco"), Luis Zahera (winner of the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actor for "El reino"), Jorge Motos (nominated for the Goya Award for Best Emerging Actor for "Lucas"), Óscar de la Fuente (nominated for the Goya Award for Best Emerging Actor for "El buen patrón"), and Esther Ortega ("Madres"), among others.
Aitana was the most-listened-to Spanish artist on Spotify in 2021, with over 100 million streams worldwide. Additionally, she has awards and nominations from prestigious national and international accolades such as Los40 Music Award, the Latin Grammys, the Premios Juventud, and the MTV Europe Music Awards.
