To document in images and sound the work of artists who stand out in the contemporary Cuban musical landscape, for their quality and high turnout, is one of the main goals of Bis Music, a record label of ARTex, which this Wednesday afternoon presented at the Salón de Mayo of the Pabellón Cuba, the DVD The Trilogy, by musician, performer, composer and music producer, David Blanco.
The audiovisual contains the recording of what happened at a concert that took place at the Karl Marx theater in 2017. Under the artistic and general direction of David himself, it shows for one hour and forty-five minutes, the result of a career of musical rigor in development, which allows one to appreciate the maturity achieved by the young creator.
The title of The Trilogy, Blanco affirmed, responds to the need to close a cycle of three concerts held at the same theater, in previous years.
For this project, he selected a repertoire made up of songs from his albums Free Life, Evolution and even songs from his first recording production.
The challenge —he said— consisted of seeking new sound alternatives to recreate those songs, adjust them for the voices of the guests and continue adding young people to the genesis of Cuban music, through his music.
After 17 years of intense work on the scene, the artist wanted to reaffirm that, in addition to taking on pop, rock, reggae and funk; the conga, the rumba, the bolero, the cha-cha-cha and the Cuban punto, among other genres, merge in his work reaffirming that he is a mixture of all those sounds and rhythms, catalogued as roots of Cuban music and from which he has drawn since his birth.
Accompanied by his band, made up of musicians with important academic training, who believed in his work, in this production the author of Move the Pachanga also chose luxury performers, so they could share the stage with him.
The selection he made responded to the fact that some of the performers were and continue to be a source of inspiration in his career. Others were chosen for the value of what they create. With all of them, he confessed, he has a deep friendship.
Mayito Rivera, Orland Max, Ernesto Blanco, Adrián Berazaín, Qva Libre, Claudio Pairot, Tanya, X Alfonso, Síntesis and Paulo F.G, with whom he shares the song Conga Loca that ends the concert, made up the guest list.
Each of them, without losing identity, based on the style they possess and the genres they cultivate, took on the challenge of interpreting David's compositions, achieving magic on stage.
The Trilogy has 22 songs, of which twenty are authored by its protagonist, six he shares with his brother Ernesto Blanco and one with Yamil Reyes, to which are added, About Me and Opatereo, created by Charly García and Carlos Alfonso, respectively.
Novel arrangements, good music, texts that describe the experiences of a Cuban composer, his feelings, social and human concerns, codes of love and heartbreak and, above all, much optimism, accompany this audiovisual that documents for new generations of Cubans a great David Blanco concert.
At this press presentation, the author of I Have to Give was accompanied by Ela Ramos, general manager of Bis Music; Juanito Camacho, director of radio programs, also known as the voice of rock in Cuba, and Carlos Fornés, writer and director of radio programs, who also was in charge of the audiovisual notes.
For Ela Ramos, this production ratifies David's loyalty and trust, from his beginnings, in Bis Music, a label with which he has recorded five albums and three DVDs. For this reason, he thanked again the author of The Promised Land for the fact that he began this concert, which is today an audiovisual, with the song Crazy About Music, a song he dedicated to his record label as part of one of its promotional campaigns.
Juanito Camacho referred to the values of this proposal in which David intertwines rock with reggae and Caribbean music, assuming from his urban vision, contemporary texts and rhythms that merge, thus showing the magnitude he has reached, as a musician and creator.
For his part, Fornés assured that in this concert the singer-songwriter surpasses the limits of previous performances. On the other hand, he specified that the selection of songs he made is exactly what is expected of a David whom everyone has had the opportunity to see grow in the musical field.
Special mention deserves the sound and light design as values of this DVD, aspects that allow you to fully enjoy not only a concert, but the musical aesthetics of a creator, who asserts that in Cuba lies his essence.
David concluded this presentation announcing a national tour that will begin in the eastern provinces, on August 23, and creating expectations for the concert he will perform on August 30 at 5 in the afternoon on the central stage of the Pabellón Cuba, within the framework of the Art Fair on the Rampa, where he will present live, The Trilogy.
